Corn Dogs and Cow Butts

This past week, The Ekka was in town. The Ekka (short for Exhibition) is formally called the Royal Queensland Show. When the Ekka was still young, the main purpose was to show off any agricultural or industrial exhibits. These exhibits are still very much a part of The Ekka. But, today there are many other attractions, as well. The Ekka can be compared to The State Fair back in The States. The only difference is that here in Australia, because of the cultural significance of The Ekka, there is a public holiday on the Wednesday that The Ekka is in town. How nice is that? A day off of work just because the fair is in town!!

Marg was going to photograph the Kelpie Dog Show and had asked if I wanted to go with her. I was reluctant to go since it was soon after we had lost the baby, but I'm glad that I went. It was good to get out of the house and have a fun day. In fact, later that night, Ryan and I returned to watch the Freestyle MotoX, Monster Truck and Toyota V6 Trucks and stayed until the closing fireworks show.
